Makes you wonder about peoples' sanity, doesn't it ? I never stopped.
Australia recently decided to criminalize cellphone nude pics. Roughly 20% of minors are estimated to have been making them.
Proving once again : The Law is an Ass.

Three cases of people acting out of sheer desperation.

In the first case, I hope NC teachers and NC law enforcement are proud of themselves for overreacting to something that has been going on for YEARS (it was going on when I was young), something that could best be dealt with on the parental level. NC law enforcement must be desperate for cases when they want to send a few teenage girls and boys for a long stretch in prison for something like this. It isn't as if they were selling the pictures over the Internet for profit. Teenagers are always going to have sexual curiosity no matter WHAT the authorities want to do.

In the second case--despicable. THIS is a true case where,IMHO, a man SHOULD be sent to prison for a long stretch. This type of thing is acceptable (unfortunately) in places like Saudi Arabia but shouldn't be condoned here. And rip the 14-year-old daughter out of her comfort zone and forcing her into something she probably has no idea about--for MEAT and BEER? Crazy, man, crazy.

The third case--take the children away because of a NAME? In New Jersey, no less? No reports of child abuse or child endangerment? Preposterous. Again the authorities are acting out of desperation--and on a fantasy, no less....

As you correctly pointed out in your introduction, the answer to the teen photography question lies with education rather than criminalization.
